The “Saturday Night’s Main Event” trademark was registered by WWE in August 2020. At that time, it was believed that it could have to do with something related to WWE Network, since the company had considered the broadcast of house shows on Saturday nights as an enticement to premium subscribers when they were considering a tiered pricing structure. However, the idea of tiered pricing was considered before reaching an agreement with Peacock over the rights to its pay-per-view shows and catalogue. It is possible that WWE will record the programs for Peacock, but nothing is known about it yet.
“Saturday Night’s Main Event” originally premiered in 1985 on NBC, where it ran until 1991. The show was dropped by NBC and picked up by FOX for two episodes in 1992. In 2006 it was revived, airing five episodes on NBC before ending in 2008.
