Together with the capital, the host cities will be Alcalá de Henares and Torrejón de Ardoz. All the institutions involved were present at the starting signal. Among other personalities, José Luis Martínez Almeida (mayor of Madrid), José Manuel Franco (president of the Higher Sports Council), Jorge Garbajosa (president of the FEB), Santos Moraga (president of the FBM), Alberto Tomé (Deputy Minister of Sports of the Community of Madrid), Javier Rodríguez (mayor of Alcalá de Henares), Ignacio Vázquez (mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz)… All this without forgetting the players Elena Buenavida and Awa Fam representing the athletes who will fill the halls of the Community of Madrid with the best basketball.

With the U19 Women’s World Cup in Madrid, Spanish basketball continues with the commitment to organize major international competitions, which began with the Women’s World Cup in Tenerife 2018, the European Women’s Championship in Valencia 2021 and the U17 Men’s World Cup in Malaga 2022. Spain has in its Women’s U19 winners the silver in 2009 and 2011 and the bronze in 2019. The great rival will once again be the United States, current world champion.

The president of the FEB, Jorge Garbajosa, pointed out that “within our present and our future, training and women’s sport are two strategic pillars. That is why this World Cup is so important to us. We want this Championship to be special”. An objective in which all those attending the event agreed.
