cody rhodes made his long-awaited return to WWE over the weekend to face seth rollins on WrestleMania 38. After emerging victorious from his first fight in the company after almost six years of absence, Rhodes appeared in Monday Night Raw to offer a very emotional promo. The fighter made clear his intentions to become world championa goal that his father could never achieve, dusty rhodesand thus honor his memory.
Cody appeared on the last edition of the show “The Bump“from WWE, where he spoke about this promo, explaining that it was not scripted. Next, we leave you with his statements about it, transcript courtesy of F4Wonline:
“My father’s story, which not everyone knows, is one of the most important in WWE history. That was my original impetus and reason for wanting to be a fighter. So being able to tell the world about it was very special.”
Rhodes described his promo as “incredibly real, from the heart, unscripted.”. In addition, he pointed out that, for him, it was a good precedent to be able to be back in WWE and be part of the team, stating that he knows what he is doing with the microphone and that you don’t need to be told what to say.
After leaving AEW in February of this year, Rumors about his return to WWE were constant. Finally, the fighter returned to what was once his home, in the biggest event possible, and facing one of the biggest superstars in the company. In the last episode of Monday Night Raw he already made it clear that his goal is to win the jackpot. It remains to be seen if he achieves his goal and manages to honor the memory of his father, a much-loved legend within WWE.
