NFL teams finally confess their acquisitions

Russell Wilson to Denver, Carson Wentz to Washington, Amari Cooper to Cleveland.

Chandler Jones to Las Vegas, Khalil Mack and JC Jackson with the Los Angeles Chargers. Brandon Scherff to Jacksonville.

What does it matter if it’s old news? Teams were able to come clean Wednesday about recent trade leaks — and dozens more — that were already known in the NFL.

And there was a first: Von Miller, the defending linebacker from the last Super Bowl, is leaving Los Angeles for Buffalo.

For his part, star receiver Julio Jones is looking for a job.

Yes, the 2022 season has just begun — with the opening of the new year of league activities — and with it the official announcements of who is going where and for how much.

Miller’s move from one end of the country to the other stole the headlines on the day. He will sign a six-year deal with the Bills and look to win a third Super Bowl, all with different franchises.

He was crowned with Denver in 2015 and only in February with the Rams.

The biggest star released Wednesday was Jones, by Tennessee. He lasted only one year with the Titans, and injuries prevented him from shining.

Jones, 33, will be designated on leave after June 1. The Titans will take the hit to their salary cap until then.

The Titans got Jones in a June 2021 trade. However, he started just 11 games, including the postseason.

He finished with a career-low 31 receptions for 434 yards and a touchdown.

Another of the more shocking changes — at least until Houston finds a team for Deshaun Watson — was Wilson leaving Seattle. The Seahawks received two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick and three players: quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive tackle Shelby Harris. They could all be starters, although the Seahawks prefer another quarterback.

“When it became clear that Russell wanted to play elsewhere, we used the opportunity to explore the market, which allowed us to acquire two quality players, draft capital and maximum salary flexibility. We have a clear vision of where we want to take the team and that’s exciting for the organization,” Seattle general manager John Schneider said.

While Denver filled the quarterback job, like Tampa Bay did when Tom Brady ended his 40-day retirement and Aaron Rodgers decided to stick with Green Bay on a three-year mega-deal, other teams are struggling to find their Barrette.

The likes of Carolina, New Orleans and Cleveland are probing to acquire Watson, who will not be criminally charged after 22 women accused him of sexual assault and harassment. Watson did not play last season and is still facing a civil lawsuit and possible suspension from the NFL.

Pittsburgh, which had to search for a quarterback for the first time since drafting Ben Roethlisberger in 2004, signed Michael Trubisky from Buffalo.
