Warriors pass over Brooklyn with 37 points from Curry

You wanted to see Golden State against Brooklyn. The clashes between great powers from different conferences are always seen as possible previews of the Finals; all the more considering the enormous start to the campaign that the Californians have had. Well, there was a battle, but only for the first 24 minutes.

If anyone shone in the New York night, it was Stephen Curry. The Warriors point guard is playing at the MVP level; and against the Nets he was not far behind that definition. 37 points with 9 of 14 in triples, 7 rebounds and 5 assists was his performance. Steve Nass’s boys were unable to stop him. His basketball shone. Brooklyn had no choice. They even ended up chanting him MVP … away from home.

“It is clear that they are not the playoffs, but there is an intensity that you have to show to beat a team like this. You thrive in that competitive atmosphere, knowing that there is a lot of talent on the court, “he says of facing the Nets and his former teammate, Kevin Durant.

The Curry thing has been crazy for a long time, but that does not mean that we must not stop highlighting it. With last night there are already 37 meetings throughout his career in which he has scored at least nine triples. The second are James Harden and Damian Lillard with nine … Play in another league.

Durant and his worst day

As we said, much was expected of the duel between Curry and Durant. Former teammates, both MVP candidates… Everything seemed served for the spectator’s enjoyment. It was not so. KD stayed at 19 points (the first time he did not reach 20 this season), after signing 0 of 8 in field goals in the third quarter, the same that served the Californians to break the game with a partial of 18- 35 which left them up to 22 points up to start the last period. Game over.

“They have big, fast defenders and guys who can help, so you see bodies all the time when you have the ball. That’s what great defenses do. And then there are some shots that I wish I hadn’t made. I made some when we were 20 or 15 down … You want to cut the distances so quickly, you end up making bad and hasty shots, “explains Durant.

With Durant minimized in the second half by the Warriors defense, the top scorer of the night for the Nets was James Harden with 24 points to which he added 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Behind him, only Bruce Brown was in double figures with 14 points.

12-2 and first of the West

The Warriors’ start of the season cannot be called less than excellent. At 12-2 they are first in the Western Conference, and all this while waiting for Klay Thompson and James Wiseman. Those from California have maintained their style of play and have gained depth. Last night Curry had the collaboration of the 19 points of Andrew Wiggins, the 17 of Jordan Poole and the 11 points and 8 assists of Draymond Green. They smile in San Francisco.
