Felix’s gold medal comes two years after surviving a life-threatening pregnancy and delivery that led many to believe that he would not be able to get back on track.

“I think people thought that I was a long shot to be on the United States team. And then, that I would not win medals. But, you know, just give me a chance,” said the athlete.
