WWE SummerSlam 2021 results: winners and full summary

The most important event of the whole summer is here. So much so that, when looking at the card, it seems more important than what was seen in the past Wrestlemania. We tell you everything that happened in WWE SummerSlam 2021 live, with all the winners and the summary of the combats.

It is a really exciting weekend for wrestling lovers, after knowing the expected return of CM Punk in AEW, the most direct competition in WWE today. What have Vince McMahon and his team prepared to make us forget what happened yesterday? For the moment, this event will serve to determine the winner of the expected confrontation between Roman Reigns and John Cena, with the Universal title in between. But on the poster we also have a confrontation between Bobby Lashley and Goldberg, the rematch between Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks … and the necessary surprises. We tell you, strictly direct, everything that happens in WWE SummerSlam 2021.

Kickoff: Big E vs. Baron corbin

The Kickoff of the night before the official start of WWE SummerSlam stars Big E, current Mr. Money in the Bank … or not, since Baron Corbin stole the briefcase with the contract that guarantees a fight for the desired title in any moment. Will it return to the hands of its rightful owner?

Despite Baron Corbin’s lanky and utterly sloppy appearance (which has been on the decline since losing his title of “King” to Shinsuke Nakamura), he has been able to stand up to Big E. But the hunger can, and instead of concentrating on combat, in the last section he only focuses on stealing the briefcase. Big E manages to win the fight cleanly and recovers it, becoming, without any doubt, the Mr. Money in the Bank of WWE.

Winner (retrieving Mr. Money in the Bank’s briefcase): Big E

Omos & AJ Styles vs. RK-Bro for the Raw Tag Team Championship

Now yes, WWE SummerSlam 2021 officially begins with the first title of the night at stake. Omos and AJ Styles, who have been intractable over the last few months, face this strange couple who have been stumbling over Randy Orton’s refusal. Can they give the first surprise of the night?

The understanding is total and this seems to be the birth of a tag team that can give us many good moments. We have even seen joint movements, although the end of the fight has been marked by a fine RKO from Randy Orton to AJ Styles, who is left with nothing at SummerSlam with Omos, despite having stood up.

Raw tag team winners and new champions: Randy Orton & Riddle

Alexa Bliss vs. Eva Marie

Although The Fiend (Bray Wyatt) was fired from the company, Alexa Bliss continues her mystical and paranormal journey. This time it has been Eva Marie, who made her return to the company recently, who has gotten in his way … and that of his wrist. Or whatever.

Eva Marie makes the mistake of hitting Alexa Bliss’s doll, Lily … and she applies the necessary corrective. Combat that has not been up to the task, excessively showing that Eva needs a little more time to acclimatize inside the ring. Short and effective, at least.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Sheamus vs. Damian Priest for the United States Championship

blank

A push that is being fed very little by little and that reaches one of its high points at SummerSlam. After appearing at Wrestlemania and having a guaranteed spot on Raw, Damian Priest fights Sheamus for the United States title to show that he can earn a truly relevant position in the company.

A terrible fall out of the ring by Priest in the first minutes marks the future of the entire fight: we do not know if the injury is real, but it is evident that the mobility of the fighter since that moment has been less, with many moments almost immobile on the canvas. Despite this, the fight proceeds relatively normally and both manage to offer a great fight, full of good movements.

Damian Priest removes the protective mask from Sheamus and manages to win the fight to get his first title.

Winner and New United States Champion: Damian Priest

The Mysterios vs. The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship

blank

Long rivalry between Dominik Mysterio and his father Rey Mysterio with the Uso brothers, who managed to snatch the titles in Money in the Bank with a very tricky pin. Tonight is the rematch, and we will see if the SmackDown belts change hands or stay with the Usos.

Fast combat and full of aerial movements, as these four men are accustomed to us. Perhaps the only negative point of a good fight, very colorful and entertaining: the feeling that we have already seen the confrontation several times in recent weeks.

The Usos manage to retain the title after applying two simultaneous super kick to the head of Rey Mysterio, who finally falls with a last Splash that connects completely.

Winners and still champions per pair: The Usos

Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Championship

blank

They were a historic main event at Wrestlemania, for multiple reasons. One of those special rivalries that span several months and that reach SummerSlam, where Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks meet again, this time with the title at the opposite waist. Will they make history again?

Well, it seems not. After the champion’s departure, it is announced that Sasha Banks will not be able to compete tonight and that Carmella will compete for the SmackDown belt. No further details are given and we do not know if the original applicant has had any complications.

Becky Lynch is back !!! Before the match begins, The Man makes his return to WWE after several months of absence due to being a mother. He attacks Carmella and throws her out of the ring – he wants a title shot tonight and he’s going to compete against Bianca Belair right now.

Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Championship

A few seconds of combat are enough for Becky to leave Bianca on the canvas after offering her hand and attacking in her place, surprising the champion, and thus becoming a new champion.

Winner and new SmackDown champion: Becky Lynch

Drew McIntyre vs. Jinder mahal

blank

The return of Jinder Mahal to the big PPVs, this time facing Drew McIntyre after dragging a rivalry of several weeks. In Money in the Bank, the former WWE champion could not reach the briefcase because of Mahal and his two cronies, who will not be able to participate in the fight tonight.

A lot more bumpy than expected, taking into account the profile of both fighters. But also short and easy for McIntyre, who has little trouble landing several shots at Mahal before a Claymore.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Charlotte Flair vs. Nikki ASH vs. Rhea Ripley for the Raw championship

blank

The day after Money in the Bank, Nikki ASH used her briefcase to snatch the Raw title from Charlotte Flair, who the night before did the same against Rhea Ripley. Now all three are involved in a triple threat and at SummerSlam 2021 only one of them will win.

Great combat in a night that was being more effective than delivered in the quality of the confrontations. One of the best fights of the night, with spectacular movements by the three fighters (especially Charlotte, who knows very well how to always make the machinery work).

Twelve times. Again, Charlotte Flair becomes champion after applying a Figure Eight to Nikki ASH, who surrenders.

Winner and new Raw champion: Charlotte Flair

Edge vs. Seth rollins

blank

Seth Rollins was one of the main reasons Edge did not become a Universal Champion at Money in the Bank. But this comes from afar, and it is practically seven years of preparation to get to this moment: the first time we see these two fighters competing within the same ring.

A combat very much in the line of those seen by Edge since his return: interesting and well executed, although slow and somewhat static in many stages. A fantastic ending brings Edge to the long-awaited submission win over Seth Rollins. Will you look at the world title closely again?

Winner: Edge

Bobby Lashley vs. Goldberg for the WWE Championship

blank

SummerSlam only has to put the two world titles at stake, and the first is the one that pits the all-powerful Bobby Lashley against Goldberg, undoubtedly one of the champion’s toughest rivals. It appears only once in a while, but we know the legend is more than capable of earning titles.

Very physical combat, typical of both fighters, with a Goldberg who proves to be in better shape than in other of his appearances in recent years. However, some errors detract from a fight that could have been more than minimally correct.

MVP attacks Goldberg in the leg without the referee seeing him and causes an injury that ends up causing the fight to end with the champion’s victory.

Winner and still WWE champion: Bobby Lashley

At the end of the fight, Lashley grabs a chair and mercilessly attacks Goldberg’s injured leg, which remains on the mat. He also attacks his son, who comes to try to help his father.

Roman Reigns vs. John Cena for the Universal championship

blank

The most anticipated moment of the night arrives. The greatest of his time against the greatest in history. Roman Reigns puts his Universal title on the line against John Cena, who can claim his 17th world title tonight.

One of those fights that have a special electricity in the environment. It is not a great technical confrontation or tremendously entertaining, but the aura that emanates every time one of the two fighters faces the reactions of the public is, without a doubt, unique.

Roman Reigns has endured three Attitude Adjustments, who with a Spear is able to beat John Cena and retain his championship in an agonizing end. There is no way to defeat this beast, which has passed over any possible impediment, even the return of one of the greatest in history.

Winner and still Universal champion: Roman Reigns

Brock Lesnar is back !!! Just after finishing the fight, Brock Lesnar makes his appearance to face Roman Reigns. They have already fought several times, and it seems that it is not going to be the last time yet. The champion leaves the ring, which the beast takes over before SummerSlam ends.
