Cuadrado revolutionized the Turin classic: Juventus’ agonizing victory

Turin Classic on matchday seven of Serie A 2021-22. Torino received Juventus at the Olympic Stadium, a duel not only for the honor but also for the promotion in the standings (both are in the middle of the table with 8 units).

As a good classic, the goal options did not abound and instead the intense game, friction, crashes and others prevailed. So much so that the visit did not have a single shot on goal in the first half.

Precisely Juventus raised a party framed in the defensive order and the security. Not in vain did he play with three central midfielders (Adrien Rabiot improvised on the left) and with contained wings (AlexSandro-Danilo).

His only approach with any clarity occurred in the first minutes, when Rabiot overflowed well through his sector, sent a pass back that the defense brushed and Weston McKennie, unsettled, kicked as best he could. The ball went over the crossbar.

Regarding the homeowners, at least they kicked straight into the rival gate. On the 37th minute, Rolando Mandragora advanced freely in three quarters of the court and used a missile with his left leg that demanded the blow of Wojciech Szczęsny.

Later it was Wilfried Singo’s turn, who also tried his luck through the middle distance, but Szczęsny was confident.

Massimiliano Allegri wanted to turn his team around for the second half. He took Moise Kean off the field, with a very weak game, and gave way to Juan Guillermo Cuadrado. With this he changed the module: he set up a line of three, Alex Sandro and Cuadrado of lanes and left Chiesa with Bernardeschi in the lead.

And the Colombian showed that he should always be a starter, it didn’t take long. In 10 minutes he distributed two assists (shots from Bernardeschi and Alex Sandro) and finished off the gantry once.

As if that were not enough, at 58 he raised suspicions. He entered the area with a dominated ball while Tommaso Pobega, felt a contact from behind and fell to the ground inside the area. Both the referee and the VAR did not consider the maximum penalty, beyond the obvious contact that took place.

After the hour of play, the excitement came to an end and the friction returned. The central judge took several yellows, the development of the game was cut short and the midfield took special attention.

And when it seemed that everything would end with a bitter tie to zero, the scoreboard moved. In the 86th minute, Manuel Locatelli received a pass from Federico Chiesa on the edge of the area, took an extra second to look at the scene, and took a positioned shot to beat goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić. Great goal and euphoria from the visiting fans.

Far from going back, Juve continued attacking and even in added time Dejan Kulusevski, just entered, crashed a shot off the crossbar.

Finally the victory went to Juventus who reached 11 points and for now is eighth in Serie A.
