Steelers hire Brian Flores as defensive assistant and linebackers coach

After suing the NFL, the New York Giants, the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins, the former head coach Brian Flores knew it would be difficult to get another job opportunity in the league. However, one team is aware of his value and has hired him.

The Pittsburgh Steelers hired Flores, 40, as a senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach.; the team announced the move in a press release in which head coach Mike Tomlin was excited about Flores’ arrival.

“I am excited about the addition of Brian Flores to our coaching staff given his history in developing defensive players. during his time in the NFL. Brian’s resume speaks for itself and I’m looking forward to adding his experience to help the team,” said Mike Tomlin, the team’s head coach.

in Pittsburgh, Flores will be able to work with defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and linebackers TJ Watt, Alex Highsmith, Devin BushJoe Schobert, Buddy Johnson, Derrek Tuszka, and Ulysees Gilbert.

Flowers Experience

Flores spent the last three seasons (2019-2021) as the Dolphins’ head coach. and, despite obtaining a winning record in the last two, he signed a 24-25 record and never reached the postseason.

His NFL career began at age 23, when he joined the New England Patriots as a recruiting assistant. for the 2004 season. In 2006 he was promoted to scout and in 2008 he was established as an assistant coach for special teams.

For the 2010 campaign, Flores diversified his experience and served as an offensive assistant and special teams coach. The following season he pivoted to defense as a defensive assistant in New England. In 2012 he was promoted to safetys coach for the Patriots and from 2016 to 2018 he specialized in linebackers.
