The 2021 season of the NFL continues its march despite the latest wave of coronavirus infections. The Carolina Panthers are the latest team to be affected by the virus.
Head coach Matt Rhule announced that defensive ends Brian burns Y Marquis Haynes Sr., defensive tackles Phil Hoskins Y Daviyon nixon, the linebacker Shaq thompson and the center Matt Paradis were placed on the COVID-19 list / reserve. Both Nixon and Paradis were on injured reserve and out for the remainder of the season.
“We had some positive coronavirus results this morning. We hope to return to the facility on Wednesday. It is something significant. For now we’re sending everyone home”Rhule declared to start the press conference.
Burns and Thompson have been two of the Panthers’ best defenders in 2021. Burns leads the team in tackles for loss with 13 and is second in sacks with nine, behind only Haason Reddick’s 11. For his part, Thompson has shown his versatility by doing a bit of everything with 91 tackles, five deflected passes, two interceptions and two sacks.

Rhule assured that his work is not in danger despite chants and boos from fans clamoring for his dismissal during the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because owner David Tepper trusts him. In two years as the Panthers head coach, Rhule’s record is 10 wins and 21 losses.
“The fans deserve a team that wins games, that wins at home. We haven’t made it and I understand how they feel. I don’t want anything other than what they want, a championship for Carolina. I spoke to David (Tepper) today. He has been incredibly supportive of me. Our conversation was about how to move forward. I appreciate your trust ”explained the head coach.
