Before the start of the friendly match of Mexico vs. Panama, the captain of the National Team, Guillermo Ochoa, it took a few minutes of the game to address all the Mexican fans and launch a forceful petition around the homophobic scream.

When the hymn ceremony ended, the national team gathered in the center of the court around a tarp that had a written message on it. With a microphone in hand, the American archer faced the entire audience and asked not to sing the cry that FIFA prohibited, with the aim that the fans of the team are banned from the games:

“On behalf of the Mexico National Team, all the staff and us players, we are very pleased to be here with you tonight and as we are pleased, we want you to continue attending the stadiums”

There was an immediate response from the public, as applause and cheers of euphoria could be heard at the Nissan stadium, so the Mexican goalkeeper paused to let the stadium attendees express themselves.

Later he took up the word again, Memo Ochoa thanked the support they receive for each of the people who come together in each meeting of the Aztec team and reiterated his request so that there are no inconveniences during the development of the game, he also highlighted his request that there be I respect to all members of the party, both the rival and their own.

He emphasized the need for there to be no yelling or inconvenience that encourages discrimination. Finally, he ended his message with the cry of “Long live Mexico!”

“On behalf of us, we invite you to behave with respect, respect for each other, respect for the rival, respect for the referees. Enjoy the game and Viva México! “

Again the fans applauded the legendary goalkeeper and the game continued. Panama and Mexico enlisted to start the game and the national team dominated the first half of the match since at minute 21 Diego Lainez opened the scoring.

Recently the national team has had problems due to the behavior of the fans since the shout “eeh put ***” was classified by FIFA as a baton that incites discrimination and homophobiaTherefore, in the current social context, it is the object of criticism and sanctions for the national team.

For the fortune of Tricolor, since the team led by Gerardo Martino resumed activity after the forced pause by the coronavirus pandemic, the gradual return of stadium fans took place in the field of international games andThe Mexicans once again encouraged the Aztec cadre and the forbidden cry appeared.

During the first friendly matches of the Tri it sounded gradually and there was no problem; However, for the tournament of the Nations League in the semifinal match and in the final the chant was heard, also during the Concacaf pre-Olympic.

Faced with this situation the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) took a stand on the issues and again began campaigns to eradicate it, despite this the selection was sanctioned because it had already been warned of said cry.

On June 18 the FMF reported the first punishment it obtained in the dynamics of sanctions imposed by FIFA; for the qualifying matches heading to the Qatar World Cup 2022, the national team will have two veto parties as a local and an economic fine greater than one million pesos.
