With the participation of 155 teams in the different categories, the city council of Mérida will launch the Mérida Basketball League Unida Por Más, which aims to train future sports talents and promote and promote the sport of ráfaga in the entity. officially presented the tournament, which will be launched this weekend.

In this first edition of the nascent league there will be the participation of 155 teams in the different categories and the tournament will begin next Friday, November 19 at the facilities of the Francisco de Montejo Sports Unit. Likewise, the matches will also take place on the court of the Ciudad Caucel Sports Unit, the second of the two venues enabled for the development of the league.

Jesús Aguilar y Aguilar, Municipal Sports Technical Secretary, representing Mayor Renán Barrera Concha, led the official presentation, accompanied by Mario Méndez Realpozo, President of the Central American Basketball Confederation (COCABA); Jorge Chim Canché, Technical Secretary of the Yucatán Mexican Basketball Sports Association (Ademeba Yucatán).

During the presentation were present Ana Fleites Chalé, Head of Sports Linkage and Promotion; and Victor Medina Hérnandez, Coach of the Municipal Basketball School.

The circuit covers the categories: Children’s U4 (2017-2016) mixed, U6 (2015-2014) mixed, U8 (2013-2012) mixed, U10 (2011-2010) male and female. In youth, made up of Pasarela (2009-2008), Cadets (2007-2006) and Elite (2005-2006).

Similarly, there will be categories such as Free male and female; Veterans 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+ and 60+.

The games of the Municipal League will be played every day; it will also seek the training of different talents in the municipality. It will last for four months. They will award the first three places in each category and the basket champion of each division.
Each category will be coordinated by outstanding trainers in the discipline: Erik Gutierrez in Infantile; Leonel Cetina in Juvenile; Edith Martínez in Libre Femenil; José Canto in Free Manly; Carlos Navarrete Veterans 50+; and Fredy Basulto at 40+, 45+, 55+ and 60+.

The previous meeting was held on Thursday, November 18, at eight o’clock at night, at the Francisco de Montejo Sports Unit.

Matchday number one began on Friday, November 19, with the match between the Falcons and Espartanos, at 8:15 pm in the Veterans category, in Francisco de Montejo; an hour later, at the same venue, Pensiones was measured with Bulls.

On Saturday 20, as part of the First Force, at six o’clock at night, Anahuac collided with Olympus; For his part, Marista Rayas faced the Blue Marists at seven thirty at night.

The Microbes and youth divisions began actions at eight in the morning on Saturday.
