Silver 21/22: Ten newcomers to watch

With 28 teams we can get lost diving through this LEB Silver (trembling to perform the classic guide of each summer!), But we do stop and take a closer look at the movements of the templates, which have a common denominator: most of Players come from FEB leagues and few teams bet on foreign players without experience in Spain (except for two, Bàsquet Menorca -6- and Carbajosa -4-). Also, many of them come after a blank season; The pandemic has caused many stops in their careers and now they see in the LEB Plata a place to re-engage. As we said, there are not many players who arrive without having played in Spain at some point, but there are interesting names. We dare to give ten names that will debut in this exciting LEB Plata that awaits us.

Jermaine marrow
1997/183 cm
Hestia Menorca
20/21: Mega (Georgia, 2nd div.) – 19.4 pt, 4.7 ace

In Menorca, high hopes are pinned on this NCAA scoring star who made his professional debut in Georgia. American player base profile, with a lot of quality and excellent in the game of Q&A; he enjoys the open field, knows how to penetrate, hide the ball and is able to shoot from any distance or create his shots. Physically he suffers against big bases and it seems that in the professionalism, without carrying as much scoring weight as in the NCAA, he has better controlled his shooting selection.

Edgards lasenbergs
1995/187 cm
Ourense Basketball Club
20/21: Ventspils (EstLatBL) – 5.4 pt, 1.6 ace

I have loved that Lasenbergs stops in Spain, but I always thought it would be higher. After not having many opportunities in Lithuania, the Latvian international arrives from one of the best teams in his country, where he finished last year. If we were looking for a similar profile we could think of Toms Leimanis. A base of rhythm, with passing quality and successful from the triple. His physicality takes its toll on him for the major leagues, but he is still a very interesting point guard, with the ability to break defenses and be dangerous from the shot. With the ability to play in any position of the backcourt, in Silver it must make a difference.

DeShaun Cooper
1991/173 cm
My Architect CB Benicarló
19/20: ART Giants Düsseldorf (Germany, 3rd div.) – 20.0 pt, 5.8 as

A player with a journey in Europe (Italy and Germany) who, after standing out in the German ProB (19/20), comes from a blank year due to the global situation caused by the pandemic. Very small base that has a very low and difficult pot to steal, has a lethal change of pace, being very unbalancing when it penetrates and with a variety of technical resources to finish. With good game reading, he is comfortable in transition and is capable of scoring with or without the ball from any distance (watch out for those 3s going backwards). It can generate doubts due to its size or for coming from standing, but they are the only ones not to see it at a higher level.

Joe cremo
1996/193 cm
Zornotza ST
19/20: Long Island Nets (G-League) – 17 mi, 5.1 pt, 2.6 as

For me, under normal conditions he must be one of the stars of the league. Formed between Albany and Villanova, featured by us in summer 2019, had minutes in the NBA development league. His arrival in Silver is based on the fact that he did not play last season. Very dangerous from triple on catch and shoot, is much more than a shooter, knowing how to take advantage of indirect blocks to receive and reach the basket (he lacks strength to define) and knowing how to play with the ball, being able to also do damage from the Q&A with his good game vision. His lethality from the triple should catapult him to the list of most important players.

Alexander Zurbriggen
1995/194 cm
Zamora falls in love
20/21: Works (Argentina) – 15 mi, 4.8 pt, 3.2 re

While the youngest of the Zurbriggen lands in the ACB, the oldest wanted to accompany him on his arrival in the old continent, joining the new Zamora project. In Argentina he had a less offensive profile, but stood out for being a player who offered great defensive tone. Lethal in transitions and very comfortable in shooting situations catch and shoot, he will surely walk even looser this course and give a great performance.

Kurt james
1995/196 cm
Zentro Basket Madrid
20/21: Barreirense (Portugal) – 18.0 pt, 6.0 re, 2.2 as

He stands out for two seasons in teams from the lower zone of Portugal. He will not be the best player, nor the most technical or the one who shoots the best, but he is always there and is a glue. He runs the transition well, hits the rebound perfectly (watch out for second options), knows how to use his body to penetrate (without being a virtuoso) and can score from the outside line. It has had minutes of false ‘four’. It can be one of the pleasant sensations of this Silver.

Dj mccall
1995/198 cm
Good Arenas Albacete
19/20: Fort Wayne Mad Ants (G-League) – 12 mi, 1.4 pt

Trained in IUPUI, he managed to enter the G-League on 19/20, something that is not available to everyone (although he did not play much). After a course without a team, he attracted attention in the EuroProBasket summer league and Albacete opted for this true physical prodigy. Vertical, he attacks the rebound very well and is lethal in the open field, but he must take one more step in decision-making and in the consistency of his outside shot to continue climbing levels.

Makhtar gueye
1997/208 cm
Hestia Menorca
19/20: UAB (NCAA DI) – 6.8 pts, 5.1 re

Gueye exhibits potential, but is not yet formed. From an NCAA formation, last season he was going to change universities, but when he did not let him play, he decided to change of scene, training on his own and spending time in Senegal, a team with which he had participation at an absolute level. It is a light ‘four’, but with the wingspan and the ability to do several things. Attentive to the offensive rebound, he knows how to play with his back to the rim and lowers the ball to attack the rim, handling in the cuts and exhibiting hand on the pick and pop from the triple, daring to finish the Q&A. With such good conditions, he lacks consistency and experience in his game, as well as giving more footing to his shot, improving ball handling and watching silly losses. If it explodes, it may be one of Silver’s surprises.

Darius carter
1992/201 cm
Ourense Basketball Club
19/20: Göttingen / Fraport Skyliners (Germany) – 14 mi, 4.8 pt, 2.9 re

Lujazo for the category the reinforcement of the COB, which signs a pivot that nobody expected. Trained in Wichita St, he passed through Greece and played four seasons in the German BBL, although his last active course was the least striking. After not playing 20/21, it seems that he is in good condition within his indoor definition undersized, but with great force and scope. Without needing to have centimeters for Silver, Carter masters the art of Q&A on the role of finisher. Able to play without the ball, through cuts, he is a good finisher near the basket and his shooting range of 3-5 meters is sometimes seen, as well as his good post play. A signing of another level, like the entire Ourense team, if inactivity does not weigh on him and he arrives in good shape.

Coreontae DeBerry
1994/208 cm
Tizona University of Burgos
20/21: Vitória (Portugal) – 17 mi, 9.8 pt, 3.4 re

Together with the young Kande, the only foreign reinforcement of the Tizona. The American arrives after three seasons in Portugal with constant performance, seeing his playing time limited only by fouls. A real ‘five’ and a real game mole, being very difficult to stop in those situations where he wins the position and receives the ball, practically ensuring the basket. More virtuous than videos can seem. Good rebounder of his box out. It may not explode, but it is sure to be very important.
