Alexy extends streak to start GL career

ANAHEIM, California – AJ Alexy allowed a hit in six innings of his second brilliant start to start his major league career, and Jose Trevino drove in two touchdowns in the Texas Rangers’ 4-0 win over the Angels of The Angels.

Alexy (2-0) retired the last 13 enemies he faced and did not allow a runner after the second inning, improbably improving on his impressive debut last month. After working five scoreless innings and with just one hit in that game against Colorado, the right-hander equaled those totals in Anaheim and surpassed them by striking out all three he faced in the sixth inning.

Alexy became the first pitcher in modern Major League history to work at least five scoreless innings with fewer than two hits as a starter in his first two Big Top appearances.

Alexy struck out seven and won the pitching duel over Jaime Barría (2-3), who started with two turbulent innings before retiring 14 consecutive batters. Barría allowed eight hits and gave up three runs in seven innings, but remains winless in six starts since July.

DJ Peters and Yonny Hernandez drove in runs and Trevino added an RBI double in the seventh inning and drove one more touchdown at the plate with a ninth-inning hit for the Rangers, who split the four-game series by winning the last two at Angel Stadium. .

Jared Walsh hit two of the Angels’ five hits, ending a nine-game stint with a shutout loss.

For the Rangers, the Venezuelans Yonny Hernández 5-2, one scored, one produced, and Yohel Pozo 4-2, two scored. The Cuban Adolis García 4-0.

For the Angels, the Venezuelan Luis Rengifo 3-0. The Dominican Juan Lagares 3-1 .;
