Gata de Gorgos is preparing, with great zeal, to host the Preferential and Autonomous Basketball Cups. The municipal pavilion will host four competitions that will crown the winning teams of the 2022-2023 season.
This week, the Valencian Community Basketball Federation (FBCV) has presented in Gata the celebration of the matches by the hand of its president, Salvador Fabregat; the mayor of Gata, Josep Signes; and the Councilor for Sports, Toni Arabí. An act that has served to ratify the agreement by which the neighboring municipality becomes the host of these important meetings.
Signes has pointed out that “hosting the FBCV Cups means a before and after for Gata de Gorgos, it means giving visibility to the town itself and especially to the Basketball Club that has recently resumed its activity.”
In this sense, the mayor of Sports has also stated: “We wanted to bet on this event because we understand that it was the right time for it. Years ago, we had a Basketball Club in Gata that was losing strength over time, and now we have a new Club project, with people determined to give it new impetus and we are going to support them”.
Especially excited has been María Monfort, president of Club Bàsquet Gata. Monfort has indicated that “it means a lot” to host these tournaments. “We have just started the activity after many years with practically no basketball in Gata and being able to do the Cup is very important. It is to see how basketball grows again in the town since it had almost been totally lost ”. “I hope our players come to enjoy themselves and are aware that we have to work to get basketball back to what it was in Gata and perhaps, in the future, they will be the protagonists of the Cup”, she remarked.
The president of the FBCV has remarked that this sentiment is the one pursued by the federation itself: “We seek promotion, not just competition.” “Beyond the games, the party that is organized around it seeks to promote basketball. Therefore, aware of Gata’s trajectory, we could not reject his proposal, ”Fabregat sentenced.
This will be the Preferential and Autonomous Cups
The Gata pavilion will host four matches with four participating teams. Each of them will pursue a double objective since the champion of each cup will have everything in their favor to finish the season by moving up the category. The scheduled matches are: Junior Women’s Preferred Cup, Junior Men’s Preferent, Senior Men’s Preferent and Senior Men’s Autonòmic.
The first of the competitions will be held on the weekend of December 3 and 4. The Junior Women’s Preferred Cup will bring together NBF Castelló, Bàsquet Comenius, Blansa CBF Port de Sagunt and CB San Blas Alicante B in Gata.
Gata wants to be the perfect host so, in addition to being able to enjoy each game on site in the pavilion itself, there will be a broadcast on streaming of each one of them through the Youtube channel of the Valencian Community Basketball Federation so that all fans can enjoy them from any point.
