Because the new building management, now in the hands of Nuevas Ideas, will present its own team, the peno dome of the Santa Tecla Basketball Club, chaired by the sportman, Guillermo Miranda, has decided to step aside from the federated basketball competitions.
This was confirmed to Co Latino by Mr. Guillermo Miranda, who for five years and in the last with the support of the previous mayor, Roberto D´Ábuisson, led the tecleño teams that won four major league titles in men (undefeated the one of the 2017 under the technical direction of Alex Funes); in the female Major; a Central American sub championship; three national sub-championships; three third places; two seconds in the second category and six titles in the U-23.
“After having finished as Champions of the 2020 Major League, we began negotiations with the current municipal administration, through Mr. Lázaro Gutiérrez, who for two months put off everything related to the negotiations to finally communicate that,” the mayor’s office would present its own team, ”Mr. Miranda posted in a statement on Facebook.
The head of the Santa Tecla Basketball Club, with an impressive success in a few years and a good projection for the future, confirmed to Co Latino that, “as an administration and in order not to create controversy, the board of directors decided to step aside, speaking with the players to to ask them to participate in that team because we have always been of the opinion that we cannot cut the wings of their sports development to the players ”.
Miranda states that, as a board of directors, they are proud to have been part of the glorious era in which Santa Tecla became the City of Sports, a period in which, as a City, they could be Champions in basketball, volleyball, soccer and baseball. He expresses that today it is time to pause and they do it with the pride of what they have achieved. He maintains that it is not goodbye.
