In a day of celebration for the local sport, the mayor Federico Achával, accompanied by the governor Axel Kicillof, presented the basketball tournament “Copa Municipalidad de Pilar”. Pilar’s candidate, Santiago Laurent, was also present at the launch at the Club Presidente Derqui. This announcement accompanies the municipal policy for the promotion of sports and culture, which seeks to generate meeting and development spaces for residents of all neighborhoods in Pilar.
During the presentation, the communal chief stated that: “This tournament marks the impulse of society to get ahead and is in line with the proposal of our political project to unite the community through sport. We do it with a present State, accompanying our neighbors in the pandemic and looking to the future ”.
“One more kid at school, in sports, is one less kid on the street. This is how they think in the province and in Pilar ”, added Achával.
For his part, the governor declared: “I congratulate the municipality for this Cup that puts them to play, to share the sport, that brings us together as a society. Our gaze is to open and include and now we cannot be happier. We can build a better province. We are going to show that we are here to recover what was lost during the pandemic ”.
In turn, Laurent thanked the Pilar clubs: “They accompanied us on our way until we reached the municipality and they stood up during the pandemic. After having overcome difficulties, today we feel the joy of going out. It wasn’t magic. Thanks to the president, the governor and the mayor, we made progress in vaccination and today a new stage begins in which we begin to meet and live the life we want ”.
The main teams participating in the tournament were present; President Derqui, Sportivo Pilar, Sociedad Hebraica y Unión de Del Viso. The players of these teams celebrated the measure from the stage with the officials.
Meanwhile, the boys and girls who qualified for the final in Mar del Plata of the 30th edition of the Buenos Aires Games accompanied the announcement, who also received the medals obtained in the competition. They will participate in the most important sports and cultural competition in the province that, due to the openings that take place in the framework of the sustained decline in the number of covid-19 cases and advances in vaccination, this year will return to the presence, as is tradition, in the seaside resort.
Pilar has 190 athletes and 35 teams that passed the regional stage and for the final, 70 athletes and 26 local teams with commitment and effort will represent Pilar in this competition.
