The New York Yankees have been inconsistent in their strategy with the rookie shortstop Oswald Peraza after uploading it in early September.
Peraza has played in seven games, hitting 21 totals, averaging .238 with a 36% on-base percentage, including five hits and three walks, with four strikeouts. Peraza has looked like a veteran at the plate, facing off against a solid Tampa Bay Rays team and tempting the Minnesota Twins in a three-game game last week.

Why don’t the Yankees use Oswald Peraza more?
The Yankees have ignored Peraza in recent days as he hasn’t appeared in the team’s last four games. In particular, they’ve moved Josh Donaldson back to third base and Isiah Kiner-Falefa to shortstop, the position he’s appeared at all year. With Gleyber Torres beginning to step up his offensive production, manager Aaron Boone feels confident with him at second base, which is no surprise.

It can be argued that Peraza should start at shortstop with Kiner-Falefa at third base. Donaldson has looked a little better in September, hitting .208 with a 367% on base rate, registering three hits in his last three games, including a home run and an RBI. While Fafa he’s hitting .351 with a 41.5% on-base rate, two home runs and seven RBIs.
Peraza or Donaldson: an issue for the Yankees to consider?
This just seems like a situation where the Yankees prefer a veteran in the lineup over a rookie., which is understandable if they keep winning games. However, his current success includes the production of Peraza, who has five hits in his last four games combined.

Apparently, the only way Oswald can get into the field is if the Yankees seek to mitigate fatigue. Once Anthony Rizzo and DJ LeMahieu return, he may not see the field again unless injuries start to mount down the stretch.
