The Cuban Under 21 team is currently contesting the World Cup of the category in Bulgaria. The national team will be playing the positions from 9 to 12 from tomorrow, October 1, facing Iran in the 9-12 semifinal.
Cuba was third place in Group B after falling at the start of the tournament with Poland and the hosts respectively. Then they beat Bahrain and with this they slipped into Group H with no chance of medals.
In this instance the results were somewhat better. Victories against Cameroon and again against the Persian Gulf team gave them the qualification to play the places from 9 to 12 although in the last match played they fell 3-0 against the Canadian team.
On the afternoon of this September 30, it was learned that the Cuban auxiliary attacker Gustavo Bolaños escaped from the Cuban delegation that is playing the contest. The man from Cienfuegos is just 19 years old (he will turn 20 next January) and is 1.99 meters tall. He is capable of jumping up to 3.56m in attack and 3.45m in block according to data from Leader Volleyball Agency.
This output occurs in the context of seven players who have also escaped during a youth World Cup, in this case the Under 23 baseball that is played in Mexico. While the official press insists on blaming Trump for the dropouts, reality hits the lie.
