Gerrit Cole continues to show why he is the ace and owner of the rotation of the yankees of New York and this Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins he had a brilliant start, which allowed him to write his name in the history of the Major Leagues – MLB and also matched a historic record for this sport and the organization as was the great CC Sabathia.
For the second game of the doubleheader between Yankees and Twins, Cole was chosen by Aaroon Boone and he did not disappoint him, since he left a very good line that would possibly lead him to his 11th victory of the 2022 MLB season.

The Yankees right-hander pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing five hits, one run, two walks and a total of 14 strikeouts.
With those 14 strikeouts, Cole tied Sabathia for the third most games of 10 or more in Yankees history, with a total of 20.

Additionally, he joined Masahiro Tanaka, David Cone and Ron Guidry as the only Yankees pitchers with more than one 14-plus strikeout game in the Major Leagues.

In 28 starts, “Chef G” is 10-7 with a 3.20 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 218 strikeouts.
