New Tigres stadium will exceed 1.5 billion dollars

Everything indicates that the new Tigres stadium will be built in the railway yards adjacent to the facilities of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and that its cost will exceed 1.5 billion dollars

The intention to build a new stadium for Tigres is open, but to achieve it requires an investment of more than 1,500 million dollars, for all that it will involve preparing the land on which it is intended to build.

The objective of the board of directors and the governor-elect of Nuevo León, Samuel García, is to complete the construction of a new house for Tigres in the railroad yards adjacent to the facilities of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, belonging to the Federal Government, but which are concessioned to the Kansas City Southern Mexico company, and the expense could be covered by resources from the Federation itself, the State Government or a private investor.

Oscar Del Cueto, president of that company in Mexico, assured that they are willing to use these lands, but that this requires a multi-million dollar investment for the construction of new rail yards.

He recalled, in an interview for ESPN Digital, that a few years ago an American company carried out a study of the project, after the current government of Jaime Rodríguez also had intention and “at that time the entire project exceeded one thousand five hundred million dollars, in 2018 when the study was completed” .

“The biggest investment would be from the government, because the land we have is from the concession. The resources for the relocation of the yard would have to come from the state or the federation, we don’t have the resources for it,” he said.

Samuel García, governor-elect of Nuevo León, told Milenio Diario last April that the railway yards would be the place to do it, “It would be pure management, it is parks, an area of public domain and we want to find that we remove the trains and now with the Federation, with Railways, Nuevo León is not going to spend. It is simply the leadership of a governor who is going to articulate that a dream of the Tigers is fulfilled. “

The president of Tigres, Mauricio Culebro also spoke a few days ago about the situation of the new stadium and said that the board is looking for improvements for the club and that among them is the construction of the new property.

To complete the project, the current railway yards would have to be moved to another point in the city and, according to the aforementioned project, those 1,500 million would be for the change of the facilities and this would increase the cost of the stadium, which is estimated at 250 millions.

“First of all, it would be the location of the operation, which we already made two recommendations within the study that was made, and after that the construction of the patio would have to be done to move towards that place, it is construction time, it is long, obviously There are workshops inside the yard, we have locomotive and car workshops, the storage and classification yard and a supply area and all this would have to be created to get out, first it would have to be built to move us to that yard.

“The construction of roads is what makes it elevated, it is the pure relocation plus the connections that would be needed to reach that yard, to serve the industry inward, that is the idea,” he said.

Oscar Del Cueto explained that the project to relocate the courtyards will take between three and three and a half years, after which the construction of the stadium would start, so it would be a long process.

“The relocation, according to what was done at the time, was more or less three or three and a half years, which would take to finish all the construction of the facilities of the new location to be able to move the patio to that area,” he said.

The president of Kansas City Southern Mexico also recalled that the concession held by the company is for 50 years and that they began operating in 1997 and has the opportunity to extend the term.

“We have just completed 24 years of the original concession and it is 50 years, extendable for another 50 years, this was from the concession that we received,” concluded the manager of the company.
