Barcelona puts pressure to renew Dembélé

BARCELONA – Barcelona is rushing its options to renew Ousmane Dembélé’s contract with the aim of preventing him from leaving the Camp Nou for free next summer, according to different sources admitted to ESPN.

Negotiations between the two parties have intensified in recent weeks and for the next few days there are scheduled a series of meetings that are presumed to be decisive for a final result.

Dembele ends his contract in June 2002 and from Barcelona they admit that the options to achieve his renewal are today at 50%. However, they hope to give a push to the case in the next meetings since they know that the French international is happy in Barcelona and feels very motivated to reappear from the injury that occurred playing with France in the European Championship.

Barcelona sources assure that “Dembélé’s continuity is strategic for the team” given his youth (24 years) and because they consider that his offers the team different alternatives to those of the other attackers in the squad thanks to his speed and dribbling.

In the Camp Nou offices they know that this profile is in demand in the market and they understand that at the end of the contract they may have other tempting offers to continue their career outside of Barcelona.

In this sense, the club considers that Dembélé’s case may be similar to that of Ilaix Moriba, who last summer, despite his will, ended up agreeing to leave Barça to sign for Leipzig on the advice of his representatives.

Dembélé arrived at Barcelona in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for 105 million plus variables, but his career at the Camp Nou has always been interrupted by his constant injuries and the four operations to which he was subjected.
