ANDl Barcelona continues to move the market in search of more reinforcements for next season’s squad. Although at this moment the priority is a middle center, the Barça club needs to improve some positions such as center, left side or even a new striker according to the losses that occur in the workforce in the coming weeks.
Two of the names that have been related to Barcelona have been those of Aymeric Laporte and Bernardo Silva to reinforce the center of defense and the indoor position. The idea that Barcelona is considering to sign these players or any others, is to include other players who enter the operation. Barcelona could get rid of players like Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Pjanic, Dembl, Braithwaite or even Sergi Roberto and Lenglet.
The problem that Barcelona faces with respect to Manchester City, Laporte and Silva’s home club, is that none of those footballers interest the English club. The sports management of the City does not intend to enter into a player exchange with the Barça entity. Another thing is that they offered footballers like De Jong, Pedri or Ansu Fati, but that is not going to happen because Barcelona understands that they are key players for the future.
The only option for the Barça club to get Laporte and Silva is to pay for a transfer. And this is where Laporta meets that tough economic legacy of Bartomeu that does not allow him to sign. In box there is no hard and to sign them you will have to pay transfer prices that are currently out of the reach of Barcelona.
Both Laporte and Silva are above 60 million. City paid 65 for the then Athletic player. He considers that its value has increased since then although it is true that the crisis caused by the covid also affects the price. But for less than 60 it does not come out. And the same happens with Bernardo Silva. Both end their contract in 2025.
