George Kittle with the illusion of coming to play in Mexico

Kittle compared the path of his team in that 2019 season with the current one and assured that in the current campaign they have had to overcome more situations

The San Francisco 49ers come from giving us two games full of emotions in which they beat their rivals in two cardiac games: first they had to recover from going down on the scoreboard by 17 points against the Los Angeles Rams in the last week of the regular season and get an agonizing victory in overtime that gave them a pass to the postseason. Then they faced Dallas in the wild card duel and although it seemed like a game they had dominated, the Cowboys put pressure on, but they lacked time.

On this occasion, we had the opportunity to chat with an important piece of this team, George Kittle, team captain, Pro Bowler and one of the best tight ends in the league. He spoke exclusively with ESPN prior to the big game that the San Francisco 49ers have against the Green Bay Packers, he told us his perspective of this exciting match, but he took the opportunity to talk about Mexico and his desire to play in the imposing Azteca Stadium.

Also, he thanked the Mexican fans who are always supporting the team wherever it goes, because the green, white and red of our flag is always present, accompanied by constant encouragement.

“I would love to (play at the Azteca Stadium), it is a great place where there will be many fans and hopefully we will have the opportunity to play there one day,” he revealed during the interview.

“Thank you (to the fans), we hear you, wherever we go it feels like a home game, whether it’s Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, no matter where we are, we hear you, we see the red, we hear your screams, Your encouragement is an inspiration to us. We love you, we know how much you love us, so we will keep growing and getting more wins for you.”

He goes for the long-awaited revenge

In the 2019 season, the Niners managed to reach SuperBowl LIV, but they could not beat the Kansas City Chiefs and lost 31-20, since that day, Kittle eagerly awaits his revenge, a new opportunity to reach the big game and raise the Vince Lombardy.

They already started on the right foot after beating the Dallas Cowboys 17-23, but now they will face the best team in the League. It will undoubtedly be a difficult challenge, but it will benefit the millions of fans around the world, because we will witness an excellent game.

“It is the first opportunity (for revenge) that I have. Last year we couldn’t go to the playoffs, in 2020, and this is our return. We won the first round and now we’re going against Green Bay in the divisional round, we have a chance to play a great team, the number one seed. So we have to give everything to have a chance to get back to the Super Bowl, it will be a fantastic game, “said the tight end during our chat.

They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and Kittle compared his team’s path in that 2019 season with the current one and assured that this season they have had to overcome more situations than two years ago. It must be remembered that in the season in which they reached the Super Bowl they finished with a 13-3 record, they had a start with eight consecutive victories and managed to be the number one seed in the National Conference, which allowed them to play the entire postseason in House.

In 2021 they had a start to forget and it was until the last week when they achieved their pass to the postseason, as Kittle told us.

“The biggest difference is the path to this instance. In 2019 I think we were 13-3 and we were the number one seed, we had a bye week and played at home every postseason game. This year I think we were 2-5 at some point, everyone kind of threw in the towel with us, but we continued to grow and we had great games, terrible games, some games our players showed football that I had never seen. I think this team has had to take more falls and has never given up. We were one minute away from the playoffs and came from behind against the Rams in overtime, then beat the Cowboys in Dallas. This team has been through a lot and that has made us stronger,” he recalled.

Records don’t matter

Aaron Rodgers is a key player for that game, he is the mainstay of the Packers but he has the disadvantage of not having been able to defeat the 49ers in the postseason, since he has a 0-3 record. But this means nothing to George Kittle, as he assured that it is a clean slate.

“I don’t think the record matters, that’s in the past, it was against a completely different team, so I don’t think that record matters. At this point both teams are 0-0 this week.”

Gentlemen, let’s hope that this Saturday the Packers and the Niners give us an electrifying game full of emotions.
