As was the case when the 2021 season began, health care for Dak Prescott is a priority with the Dallas Cowboys returning to activity after a week off.
Unlike a shoulder problem or how he played after ankle surgery, Prescott’s ailment this time is a right calf strain suffered on his last pitch from an overtime win over the Patriots on May 17. October.
Prescott walked alone when he left the field after the game and downplayed the injury.
The Cowboys don’t seem overly concerned about Prescott’s ability to play the Vikings on Sunday.
The first test for Prescott will be Wednesday’s practice at The Star.
If Prescott participates smoothly, then everything should be fine.
“If you’re like me, which most Cowboys fans are, you learn never to bet against Dak,” Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones said on “The Fan” KRLD-FM on Friday. (105.3).
“I am confident and with the feeling that he is going to play. Like I said, I would not bet against him and I am sure that he will do what he has to do to prepare to play. “
In 2020, a season the Cowboys hate to talk about, the Dallas team lost seven of 11 games without Prescott on the field of play.
Dallas had a four-game losing streak and failed to score more than 20 points in any of the losses.
Now with a healthy Prescott, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is getting attention about becoming a head coach somewhere and there are many reasons for that.
Coming into Sunday’s games, Prescott and Moore command the highest-scoring offense in the NFL with 34.2 points per game.
It’s easy to see what Prescott means to this Cowboys offense, and his presence means a lot not just to a possible NFC East title, but a deep run in the playoffs as well.
