Yankees: Aaron Judge was ‘Ohtani’ in high school; also the best playing american football and basketball

The race for the American League MVP is reaching its final stages and it is a two-horse race with two of the best individual seasons in the history of MLB: Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels and reigning MVP, and Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, with both being more than deserving winners without detracting from each other’s season. While Ohtani is the ‘everything’, there was a time when Judge was like the Japanese and an even better athlete.

In his senior year of high school in his hometown of Linden, Aaron Judge was not only the best hitter on his team, hitting .500 with 7 home runs and 32 RBIs, but also the best pitcher, with a record of 9 -3, a near-perfect 0.65 ERA with 65 strikeouts.

And not only that, Judge also played basketball and American football: As a basketball player he was the pivot of his team, averaging double-double per game with 18.2 points and 12.8 rebounds, being an All-Star in the state.

As an All-American player, he was a receiver and holds his school record for the most touchdown catches in a season with 17, as well as 54 total and catching for 969 total yards.

Judge was so good at playing football that he was one of the top college prospects in the country at his position, being recruited by such prestigious schools as UCLA, Stanford and Notre Dame. However, the Judge always knew that his passion was playing baseball and he ended up enrolling to play ball at California State University, and as they say, the rest is history.

I started as a rookie at Al Bat in early 2018 and am in my third season covering Major League Baseball as a web reporter. I’m a fan of the San Francisco Giants, number one defender of Barry Bonds, and hater of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto and Ronald Acuña are the future of baseball, Mike Trout is overrated, and the Astros deserved to have the World Series taken from them for their cheating. Besides baseball, I also enjoy football, flag football, basketball, and just about any other game that involves a ball or ball. I’m also an amateur musician, a penniless gamer and very nerdy. Graduated in journalism from the University of Guadalajara, I graduated in 2017. Born in the world capital of shrimp, Escuinapa, Sinaloa. I lived for a while in Australia; I survived giant spiders, tasmanian devils and fought a kangaroo and didn’t die trying.
