UCAM Murcia defeated Baskonia in a new round of the Spanish ACB. Jayson Granger’s team could not maintain the good level shown in the Euroleague.

By the seventh date of the Endesa League, UCAM Murcia and Baskonia faced each other. The former came from crushing the Obradoiro as visitors, while the latter, in their last presentation, had fallen at home to Lenovo Tenerife. Those led by Sito Alonso took to the field with Isaiah Taylor, Jordan Davis, Sadiel Rojas, James Webb III and the Brazilian Augusto Lima. For their part, those led by Dusko Ivanovic began with Jayson Granger, Vanja Marinkovic, Simone Fontecchio, Tadas Sedekerskis and Landry Nnoko from Cameroon.

The meeting held at the Sports Palace of the city of Murcia presented a favorable start to the tenant group, who with a good contribution in the painting of James Webb III and Augusto Lima, managed to open a premature advantage of ten units (16-6) . The visiting cast had serious problems on defense, while on the other side they relied heavily on some individual inspiration from Jayson Granger. With the good income from the substitute bench of both Steven Enoch and Wade Baldwin IV, added to what the captain continued to do, those of Vitoria-Gasteiz managed to match the actions at the end of the initial stage.

At the beginning of the second half, the owner of the house was in front of the electronic in figures from 35 to 31. In the first bars of the complement, an extremely attractive procedure could be observed, in which both teams exchanged attack for attack. The Murcians hurt with the distance shots of Emanuel Cate and Chris Czerapowicz, while the Vitorians responded with the same offensive argument through Vanja Marinkovic and Matt Costello. The parity was maintained until the final moments of the match, where both teams had their chance to win. With a double from the Brazilian Lima, those led by Sito Alonso ended up taking the victory by 80 to 79, thus reaching their fifth triumph in the contest.

The winner was the figure of the North American Isaiah Taylor, who scored 16 points, well seconded by Jordan Davis with 12 points and 4 assists. On the underdog, Matt Costello scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.

Uruguayan point guard Jayson Granger spent 27:23 minutes on the court, in which he contributed 15 points (1/3 triples, 5/7 doubles and 2/2 free), 3 rebounds and 5 assists, for a total valuation of 20, the highest of the match.

The next commitment of our compatriot’s team for the local tournament will be in a week, when they have to host Real Madrid. However, before he will have two games for the Euroleague, on Wednesday against Unics Kazan and on Friday against Zenit, both matches on Russian territory.
