Liga Saesa basketball will return to the court after two years of recess

Complying with all health protocols, the sporting event that brings together around 1,500 players will begin in April.

After two years of recess due to the Covid-19 pandemic, basketball will return in April with the start of a new season of the Saesa League.

Rodrigo Navarrete, regional manager of Saesa, stated that “We are very happy to be able to give this news, after two years without being able to enjoy this sport. We have already informed the clubs of all the health regulations that they must comply with and the call is, above all, to responsibility for the success in the development of the 2022 championship.

For this year, 16 weeks of play are projected, with four series (13, 15, 17 and adult U23) and more than 400 games. In addition, the 20 participating clubs were divided into four groups, favoring the closest geographical areas, which will allow shorter transfers and, in this way, reduce the chances of contagion.

In his turn, Reinaldo Alderete, leader of the Sports Club Las Ánimas de Valdivia commented that “The Saesa League was greatly missed, although the adults continued to play in the national league, the little ones were without competition. Now, when we got the news, the go-ahead was given and the coaches immediately started working with the minor series to prepare for the league…the kids are happy.”

“A Mobility Pass will be requested in a mandatory way to enter gyms and the capacity will correspond to what is dictated by the Step-by-Step Plan of the Ministry of Health, always complying with the protocol for the safe return of basketball,” Navarrete added.

In addition, work is being done together with the clubs on an internal protocol of additional measures leading to further accentuate the care and safety in the different venues where it is played, including preventive rules before and during trips, when entering the gym and during development. of the matches.

In this new season, the sports days were scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. and the last game to start at 7:00 p.m. A space will be available in the middle of the day for the sanitization of the gym.
