Follow the round of notes to coaches prior to the Third Division of Ascent, this time we went in search of the word of Ignacio Carrerou, Bohemios coach who returns to the competition.
How was the preparation for the tournament?
We are doing a good preparation. The players who were in the Metro were adding little by little, always showing the desire to come to train at the club. We have played a series of friendlies that helped us to correct some details for the start of the tournament.
How do you give yourself the opportunity to take the position of coach? Did you expect it?
The truth is that no, I am a coach of the club of the smallest categories, both male and female and I was focused 100% on that since recent times have not been easy for the training team. We were working and living with the situation that the club is dragging on and that wore us down a lot. Luckily now the situation is different, the club is open and we are all focused on what it gives to the tasks of a coach. The people who are in charge of the club’s basketball offered me the task of directing the men’s main squad, I discussed it with the family and I did not hesitate, it is a dream for me.
How are you feeling? Since it is totally different to direct a larger team.
It is a learning stage. I have the support of the players, managers, fans and friends and this makes us work calmly. I rely a lot on Juan Manuel Zeballos who is my assistant, on teacher Ruben Postiglioni and on Diego Frugoni, who, although he is the training coordinator, is always available for whatever we need.
What does it mean for someone as identified as you with Bohemios, to be the coach in the return to competition?
It is a great responsibility to be at the forefront of the coaching staff in this return to the competition of men’s basketball. It is the resurgence of a great of our basketball after 3 years without participating and all that this entails, history marks the quality of coaches who have passed through the institution and it is there that one falls and realizes the position he occupies. It is a huge pride.

The squad is made up almost entirely of players identified with the institution, that was the idea from the beginning. It is the return of Rodrigo Trelles, Julio Panelli and Nicolás Sánchez to compete for the club and in them deposited the plate of references of the squad. From the first call they did not object to playing for the club again and like everyone they are always ready. We also have Matias Gallo, Nicolas Rossiello and Ernesto Rabinovich who have experience in this type of tournament and it is they who surround all the youth of the club who are going to make their first weapons in the first division.
How are Rodrigo Trelles, Julio Panelli and Nicolás Sánchez who come back after a while?
They are good and eager, training from day zero and picking up the rhythm of the game after the stoppage they had in their careers. The friendly matches are coming to them and everyone else to level off both physically and basketball.
What do you think of the dispute form?
With little preparation time, the tournament is short to be able to find the ideal in the game and the fluidity of the team. I know that there are financial interests of the clubs to keep the tournament short. We must plan so that we can deal with it in the best way.
What do you want your team to play?
We have a diverse team in terms of dynamics and intensity. We have players for every moment of the game, what I can assure you is that defense is going to be the main characteristic of the team.
