He put himself within range
Peñarol beat Deportivo Maldonado 4: 0 at the Estadio Campeón del Siglo, for the sixth date of the Apertura Tournament. The forcefulness was the best ally of a team that did not show off but that celebrated.

He got within range. And as if that were not enough, he was reunited with the goal. Peñarol converted four goals to Deportivo Maldonado, to reap the second victory in the tournament and place three points below the leaders.
Walter Gargano’s foot strike, 50 seconds from the start, and Agustín Álvarez Martínez’s excellent free-kick hit, in the 43rd minute, were the goals that served to make the difference in the first half. The aurinegro was not superior in football to the Fernandino, he again lacked a collective game and repeated errors in defense. However, forcefulness and effectiveness – two valid weapons – were disguised as great arguments. Palladino’s team, in several passages, handled the ball and offended with danger, but yes: it lacked definition. He wasted five clear chances to score, his cardinal sin.
Deportivo felt the impact of the two goals suffered in the first period. They were hard knockout blows, which affected him in the spirit and literally turned him into a shadow in the complement.
This greatly facilitated the work of Larriera’s team, which played at ease. He asserted himself in defense, generated level football from the talent of Walter Gargano, and had overflow and depth in offense, to finish rounding a win, thanks to Joaquín Varela’s own goal, and another goal from Agustín Álvarez Martínez.
Peñarol regained his smile.
