Draft lottery result does not favor KAT and Edwards’ Timberwolves

Due to the change that involved D’Angelo Russell and Andrew Wiggins the 7th choice of the draw will be for the Golden State Warriors but this does not mean the end of the world for the TWolves

A team with luck in the last five years was not favored in the most recent NBA Draft lottery that was held this Tuesday.

The Minnesota Timberwolves they lost their 2021 Draft selection to the Golden State Warriors due to previous negotiations between the two franchises.

The odds of obtaining one of the first three picks were the sixth best of the participating teams with an approximate of 27% and they could have chosen between men as Cade cunningham, who is projected to be the first pick, Evan Mobley, Jalen Green, among others.

Since 2015, the only franchise to have selected first in the Draft on more than one occasion is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who obtained Karl-Anthony Towns (2015) and Anthony Edwards (2020), and now these are the main bases of the team.

Edwards was precisely the representative in this edition of the Minnesota Timberwolves who will not be able to choose players like Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Kuminga, Franz Wagner or Kean Johnson according to the mock drafts prior to the lottery.

At the moment, what is expected is that the TWolves can reinforce the squad in free agency or with some international player rights, taking into account the bad season they had.

However, it is fair and valid to say that the team was not at its highest level due to injuries and absences suffered by its three main stars: KAT, Edwards and Russell, a very talented trio that can surely produce better performances next season.

The big winners of the Draft were the Detroit Pistons who are sure to keep the player that everyone agrees will be the first selection, Cade Cunningham. Houston Rockets, the worst record in the league, will pick second and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be third.

The Golden State Warriors will have selections 7 and 14, and now it is the responsibility of Gersson Roses and the entire operations office to put a competitive team on the court for the Timberwolves, and forget about the fateful 2020-21 season.
