Basketball scandal

The Argentine Confederation suspended a member reported for sexual harassment to a referee.

The Argentine Basketball Confederation (CAB) suspended a member of the entity denounced for sexual harassment by an arbitrator, who indicated that due to this situation she decided to leave the activity.

Through an official statement, the entity explained that after the complaint was “activated the internal protocol” for gender violence “after the accusation of the arbitrator Bianca Tedesco and immediately suspended the accused.”

In that sense, he explained that he was notified of what happened “by the National Sports Secretariat of the existence of a criminal complaint for sexual harassment in the Argentine arbitration (from the judge Bianca Tedesco)“.

Likewise, it “urgently put into operation its protocol against gender violence and, guaranteeing the right of defense of the person denounced – not yet charged in court -, it immediately ordered the provisional suspension of the accused in the exercise of his professional functions,” corresponding to the discipline.

“With this decision, it is sought to effectively and urgently protect the victim of the reported gender violence,” he added.

In its social networks, Tedesco denounced that it suffered situations of sexual harassment, and tired and anguished by that it decided to leave the referendum.

“It makes my skin crawl to remember the experiences, audio messages, situations of sexual harassment that I naturalized believing that it is okay for this to happen or if I want to continue directing I will have to endure it, there is no other choice. Actually, there was another, but it was too painful the option of recognizing what he had experienced and learning from it in order to communicate it, “he added.

In that sense, he pointed out: “From now on we will continue to be the conventilleras who open their mouths to make quilombo, and I really appreciate it (the quilombo, of course). If these conventilleras did not express themselves, they would continue to violate us, harass us, rape , harassing, silencing, submitting and killing. If I speak today it is because I can no more. Because my mental health went through states that are not directly proportional to the demand of my work, but to the harassment and sexual harassment that I received in an environment clearly macho and unfair for those of us who just wanted to work and do it well. “

Tedesco said that he has a “broken heart, swollen eyes and the tranquility of having given everything. Fortunately, today everything is in the hands of justice.”
