MLB: Team already emerges as a candidate to trade with Dodgers for Cody Bellinger

The fall of Cody Bellinger is perhaps one of the most pronounced seen in MLB historyat least recently, since from 2017 to 2019 he was Rookie of the Year and MVP of the National League with the Los Angeles Dodgers, But as of the 2020 season, he doesn’t look anything like that dominant player and has put up perhaps the worst numbers for any starting player the past two seasons.

And now, it seems that patience is over in Los Angeles with many rumors circulating, which indicate that they are looking for a way out either through a trade or simply letting his contract expire. Now, according to information from Gordon Wittenmeyer of NBC Sports Chicago, the Cubs are exploring the possibility of putting together a trade for Belli.

Wittenmeyer mentions that management discussed the possibility of a trade for an outfielder, with Belinger’s name coming up, as many believe he would benefit from a change of environment to return to being that perhaps not MVP-caliber player, but At least above average, since his defensive ability in the outfield is elite and he is known for what he is capable of with the wood.

Between the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Bellinger hit .193/.256/.355 with an OPS+ of 64 and 244 strikeouts, racking up -0.4 WAR, while earning nearly $33 million between the two seasons.
