The Lions of Caracas start their actions on the right foot in the 2021-2022 campaign of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, by defeating the Tigres de Aragua at home, with a final score of 7-3.

The pitching of the capital, commanded by Aliángel Frank López, combined to keep the Aragüean offensive at bay, which although it had moments of reaction was not able to capitalize on the Caracas arms.

Lopez gave manager José Alguacil a three-clean inning job, in which he only allowed four hits, did not walk, or pass any batter on strikes. In the same vein, Félix Carvallo and Miguel Socolovich also shone in relief work.

Jesús Zambrano and Norwith Gudiño kept the shutout. However, in the ninth section came the lack of control; Loiger Padrón had some problems to dominate the rivals, which generated that the bases were filled and the first race arrived for Aragua.

Eduardo Paredes was called to rescue Padrón’s work, but he granted a passport with a full house for the second local race. Later he dominated Amarista with rolling to first and the third line fell. Paredes was replaced by José Torres after reloading the bases with a ball; Torres dominated Henry Rodriguez with a fly to right field for the 27th out.

On the side of the Tigers, Dominican Logan Duran was punished with three lines, in work of three and two thirds, including a two-run homer.

Alexander Palma led the hairy offense, with his first home run of the season. The slugger went for 5-3, with two RBIs and two runs scored. For his part, Romer Cuadrado sounded a double producer; César Valera went 4-3, with a double, a walk and two runs; While Wilfredo Tovar and Ronny Cedeño had a pair of hits each.

For those at home, Carlos Tocci stands out with two doubles in four trips to the plate; Ramón Cabrera also hit a two-pad hit and hit three hits in four at-bats. The Bengali sluggers got to mount serious threats, but they did not get the opportune hit that brought them back on the scoreboard.

This series will see its second match tomorrow, at the Caracas University Stadium, when the Caracas Lions receive the visit of the Aragua Tigers.
