Latest Yankees News & Rumors | Shortstop is a priority, Gary Sánchez stays, Matt Olson and more

It is quite possible that New York Yankees don’t sign an elite shortstop in the next LA free agency MLB, considering giving ownership of the position to a player in its minor league system in 2023, according to an analysis by journalist Brendan Kuty of nj.com.

The move thought by the management would be to go out on the market to sign a player of economic value and forget about Carlos Correa, Corey Seager or Trevor Story so that Anthony Volpe or Oswald Peraza is the starter from the 2023 campaign.

“Maybe they can go for Marcus Semien, but the most logical thing would be a player like Andrelton Simmons who can guarantee defense, while they decide on the new heir to the position,” Kuty says in his report.
