Larry Walker, the former all-star slugger for the Colorado Rockies and the Montreal Expos, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday. He was one of the best hitters in baseball at the time, and the 54-year-old set the internet on fire (again) during the exaltation ceremony thanks to the man who lives in a pineapple under the sea.
When Walker got the call that he was heading to Cooperstown in January 2020, he was wearing a T-shirt of the character named SpongeBob SquarePants (SpongeBob SquarePants). The shirt also sent a subtle message, as it said, “it’s not an ordinary sponge.”

During the exaltation ceremony, Walker reminded everyone that you are never too old to be a SpongeBob fan.
The gray and black suit that Walker wore during the event had a little touch of yellow. The three-time batting champion took the stage wearing a SpongeBob lapel pin.
His love for the Nickelodeon character is truly and truly eternal.

The now iconic jersey he wore during the call where he was notified of his choice will also be immortalized in Cooperstown.
The jersey is on display in the hallway, right next to Joe West’s referee mask. Did you know that wearing such a garment would be a part of baseball history when you wore it? Probably not, but having SpongeBob in Cooperstown makes his adoration for the cartoon character and his trip to the Hall of Fame come full circle.

Walker played in the MLB for 17 seasons and was a five-time All-Star and won the National League MVP award in 1997. He finished his career with 383 home runs, 1,311 RBIs and a .313 batting average.
