David Ortiz on course to be the fourth Dominican inducted into the Hall of Fame

Pitchers Juan Marichal, Pedro Martínez and slugger Vladimir Guerrero are, so far, the only three Dominican players in the Cooperstown Hall of Fame.

The emblematic player of the Boston Red Sox, native of Santo Domingo, David Ortiz, is still in the lead in the voting to enter the Hall of Fame from Cooperstown with 82 percent correctness of the ballots that have been published so far, and if induced, it would be the Dominican exalted room

Pitchers Juan Marichal and Pedro Martínez, and the slugger Vladimir Guerrero, they are so far the only three Dominican players in the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, which for this year has a total of four Dominicans on the ballot.

Besides of “Big Papi”, as it is also known David ortiz, the other compatriots who accompany him are the former gardeners Manny Ramírez and Sammy Sosa, who is in his final year on the ballot and the former third baseman Alex Rodriguez, the latter debuting on the list.

In the case of Manny Ramírez and Sammy Sosa, their absences from the hall of fame are not due to lack of merit, because they both have numbers to spare to be considered “Immortal” of baseball Big leaguesHowever, their links to banned substances have practically eliminated their chances of being hyped.

In the same situation is Alex Rodriguez, who although he is debuting on the ballot, his various incidents of prohibited substances have considerably reduced his chances of entering his first year, since although he has only one 48 percent of the ballots that have been published, when the minimum to be exalted is 75 percent.

The requirements to be considered hall of fame, are first wait 5 years after retiring to be eligible, as long as they have played at least ten seasons in the major leagues, and then it is get at least 75 percent of the 392 ballots to be published.

A player may be on the ballot for up to 10 years as long as at least 5 percent of the voters are considered, otherwise, they will leave the ballot.

On this year’s ballot, in addition to David ortizOthers that if the voting ended today would also be exalted are: Barry Bonds 81%, Roger Clemens 80%, and Scott Rolen 72%, in the case of Bonds it is in its last year.

Players inducted into the Hall of Fame of Cooperstown, will be announced next January 25, and subsequently officially introduced as members in July.
