The climax for Raisel Iglesias. A season that did not start as I would have dreamed it ended much better than any expectations I could have had.

The closing pitcher of the Isla de la Juventud who faces the free agency The 32-year-old has been selected to the Major League Baseball Second All All-Star Team for the first time in his career. Undoubtedly a recognition that adds value and reason to the fact of having declined the qualified offer and facing a free agency from which he must get many good things.

Raisel capped a season of 34 saves (87.2% of chances) and seven wins with a 2.57 ERA and a 0.929 Whip. The longtime Angels closer struck out 103 batters of the 273 he faced (37.72%).

In the Second Team he was joined by veteran Los Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen, also a free agent this winter and holder of several historic records for the franchise but who had never been included in the selection.

The first team was led by Australian Liam Hendriks for the second year in a row. The 38 saves and the Whip of 0.732 were the main card put on the table to overcome the challenge of repeating the award for the second consecutive year and third time in the race.

The other selected was Brewer Josh Hader for the second time in his career. Hader saved 34 games in the 2021 season and posted a 1.23 ERA that, along with the 0.835 Whip, made him intractable during the ninth innings he served.

Another Cuban who goes very far in the 2021 MLB season. Congratulations champion!
