SANTA CLARA — Like many other offensive linemen in the NFLthe left tackle of the San Francisco 49ers, Trent Williams, wears the number 71 on his jersey. But, in the world of virtual football, he now possesses digits that have never before been associated with his positional group: 99.
EA Sports, the developer studio of the popular video game franchise “Madden“, he informed Williams this wednesday what will be the first offensive lineman in game history to join the 99 Club.
In a video published on social networks by the corridor of the NFL, Adrian PetersonEA Sports representatives presented Williams with a gift box to commemorate the honor.
Williams he took his time investigating the items inside the box before remarking, “Man, this is crazy. I appreciate it.”
In his second season with the Ninersin 2022, Williams earned his ninth invitation to the Pro Bowl and first team honors All-Pro for the first time in his career.
The 99 club has become a coveted honor for players in the NFLsince it represents the maximum rate that can be achieved for a player within the video game.
Williams reached the Niners in 2020, through the exchange, coming from Washington. the 49andrs only had to pay a 2020 fifth-round pick, and a 2021 third-round pick, for the services of who is currently considered the best left tackle in the NFL.
Originally a first-round draft pick from the University of Oklahoma, Washington selected to Williams with the fourth overall turn of the 2010 Draft. There he spent his first 10 years in the league, before requesting his exchange and eventually being traded to San Francisco.
