As in all FIBA windows, we have analyzed who has been called up with their teams and how they have done it. With the Olympics just around the corner and four places pending, the Pre-olympic, where there was a small representation of LEB Leagues players.
In the Dominican Republic, with old acquaintances such as Mike Torres, Mendoza or Araujo, two players who went through LEB on 20/21 slipped into the roster. The Dominicans easily beat a very young Philippines, but they couldn’t beat Serbia. A lot of presence against Serbia (although without much success in the shot), then he played little against the Philippines (his presence was not necessary) and in the semis he made his best game by scoring 10 points against Italy.
- Andrew Happy (CB Prat / 5 mi, 1.3 pt). The player who has been linked to Penya this summer barely found his place and played a residual role, scoring his first points against Italy (with 4 points in 9 minutes).
In another Latin American team, Venezuela, there are the other two LEB representatives of the tournament. The red wine beat South Korea to qualify for the semifinals, clearly falling to Lithuania to be second in the group; afterwards, Dončić’s Slovenia was able to face little, which eliminated him clearly.
- David Cubillán (Levitec Huesca / 14 mi, 9.7 pt, 1.7 as). He was one of the stars of the Peñas and in this tournament he had a stable role, contributing his 8-11 points in each game and being a threat from the triple.
- Michael Carrera (ICG Força Lleida / 28 mi, 13.7 pt, 8.0 re). He arrived in ilerdenses lands with the season already started and with his team he also acted as leader. With little success in the outside shot, he showed his face and even managed a double-double against Korea (16 pt, 12 re).
