Mbappé, overshadowed by Messi in the PSG store on the Champs Elysees

The walls of this “boutique” were lined with images of the Argentine star, but without a trace of the French player

After the closing of the transfer market, the store of the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) located in the central Parisian avenue of the Champs Elysees woke up this Wednesday with Kylian Mbappé overshadowed by the new star of the team: Lionel messi.

The walls of this “boutique” were lined with images of the Argentine star, but without a trace of the French player, who will wear the colors of the PSG at least until June 30, 2022, after an intense struggle by Real Madrid for his signing.

“I would have loved for him to have come. I wanted Madrid to re-create a project with a figure like Mbappé, like when the two Ronaldos arrived”said Carlos García, a merengue fan who visited the store of the PSG.

The white club did not get this long-awaited signing, for which it came to offer up to 200 million euros – according to the French newspaper L’Equipe-, since the Qatari owners of the Parisian club did not give their arm to twist.

“They made a mess,” admitted this Almeria native, who believes that the white club has missed a “unique opportunity” to sign Mbappe and he is not optimistic for the Champions League this season: “I don’t see it as something we will aspire to.”

Noa and Bené, two young French PSG fans who had just compared Messi’s elastic, felt “disappointed” and “angry” because they believe that the Frenchman is going to leave for Madrid next year, although they celebrate that he has stayed – for now – to win the ‘Champions’ with Messi, whom they consider “the best player in the world.”

TAILS FOR THE MESSI T-SHIRT

The fans and onlookers who arrived this morning at the club store were essentially looking for the jersey of Messi, who wears the number 30 on his back – after shedding the number 10 that he wore for thirteen years as a Barcelona player.

This is the case of the Spanish María José and Isidro, who bought kits for their two grandchildren with the name of the one who has become the signing of the summer. “They had to print it for us and everyone was Messi in line”she explained.

“There are queues and queues to look for Messi’s shirt,” said Sergio and Josseline, two Mexicans who took advantage of their trip to enter the store, “which has become a tourist attraction in Paris,” and on whose door you can still read “Welcome, Leo Messi”.

“Everything is Messi. We look for others like Mbappé and Neymar but there is nothing”, detailed one of these twenty-somethings, who took three shirts, and for whom the staff of the PSG It is the best in the world.
