Although an injury early ruled him out of contention for a Washington Commanders jersey, the NFL couldn’t be long without Sammis Reyes. The Chilean received a new proposal to be present in the next season of American football, and from the hand of one of the most traditional teams.

This is the Indianapolis Colts, a double Superbowl champion who has the legendary Peyton Manning and Johnny Unitas as his great historical figures, who will give the tight end a chance this weekend, when he has a private training session with the franchise and listens the offer they have for him.

“He travels this Sunday, he takes the medical exams, he has a private practice with the Colts on Monday and after that (if the medical exams are correct), we would listen to the formal offer they have for Sammis,” explained a close to the operation by the Chilean player who started in basketball and from 2021 is professionally dedicated to American football.

The Colts hope to immediately have Reyes on a roster where they should fight for the position with Mo Alie-Cox, Jack Doyle and Noah Togia, after veteran Trey Burton is out due to injury. The Colts team is led by quarterback Philip Rivers and in his last season he did not qualify for the playoffs in the AFC South, with a record of 9-8.

Sammis Reyes became the first Chilean to play in the NFL in October of last year, when he made his debut against the New Orleans Saints. He played eleven games, mostly on special teams, and recorded two tackles in his pro debut.

The NFL season began on September 8 and the Colts have had an irregular stride with a draw against the Houston Texans (20-20), a shutout against the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-24) and a good victory over the Kansas City Chiefs (20-17). This weekend they have a key matchup for their division against the Tennessee Titans.
