Yankees: Bad night for Gerrit Cole vs. Red Sox, they beat him up and he was sent off

Since signing a contract worth more than $300 million in 2019, the right-hander Gerrit Cole was destined to be the ace of the New York Yankees in the short and medium term, coming off extraordinary years with the Houston Astros. However, since his arrival in the Bronx he has struggled and has perhaps had one of his worst starts. as a Yankee this Friday against the hated Boston Red Sox.

Waiting for Aaron Judge’s 61st home run, Cole came out on the mound and was throwing pretty well despite giving up a solo home run in the first inning. However, in the sixth he had problems and with two runners on base, Mexican Alex Verdugo hit a three-run home run to tie the score at 4-4. Immediately, Cole struck out JD Martinez to end the inning, but he went into the plate umpire.

Gerrit Cole lunged at the official for apparently having miscalled a strike that could have meant Executioner struck out and escaped the inning unscathed; however, he scored a ball and at the next pitch ‘Duggie’ sent him to the street, with manager Aaron Boone coming out to protect the player from him.

However, Cole took his manager ‘in between his legs’ as both were ejected from the match, with reliever Ron Marinaccio coming out as the ace. With these two home runs, Gerrit reached 31 allowed in the year, the most in the entire American League, only behind Josiah Gray of the Washington Nationals in all of MLB, who has 37 homers allowed.
