Urías, ninth Mexican with 15 wins in a season

Supported by four home runs in the first three innings, the Mexican Julio Urías he became the ninth Mexican-born pitcher to win 15 games in a major league season on Monday, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 to the Atlanta Braves.

Urías also became the first 15-game winner of the season, after Kyle hendricks, the Chicago Cubs, failed in his attempt Sunday.

The Dodgers left-hander also became the 40th Mexican-born pitcher to pitch in at least 100 major league games, reaching just 100 in his 26th start of the season.

The 24-year-old from Sinaloa pitched six innings for four hits and two runs – both earned – without walking, striking out seven and allowing a pair of home runs, to put his record at 15-3.
