MLB: Would former Dodgers starter be Jacob deGrom’s replacement at Mets? NY goes after your signature

Jacob deGromconsidered by many the best starting pitcher in the Big leaguesbecame free agent after not validating his last year of contract with the New York Metswhose salary would have been US$32.5 million if the clause had been exercised.

Meanwhile, the Mets are looking at options to replace deGrom in the event the flamethrowing righty is signed by another club during the winter market. One of the pitchers who are in the crosshairs of the Queens team is the left-hander Andrew Heaneywho had a good 2022 season with the Los Angeles Dodgersafter finishing with a 3.10 ERA, though a pair of shoulder problems limited him to 72 2/3 innings.

The Mets’ interest in Heaney makes good sense, as they currently face the possibility of losing Jacob deGrom, Chris Bassitt and Taijuan Walker to free agency.

Another element that is in the sights of New Yorkers is outfielder Michael Conforto, who was unable to play this season due to shoulder surgery. It should be noted that before becoming a free agent last year, Conforto racked up seven seasons with the Mets.
