The New York Mets are looking for a general manager for the next season and with quite a few possible candidates rejecting the organization from Queens, a serious and highly credentialed candidate appears to have already emerged to take the reins of the team and build a possible dynasty like he did in his previous team, according to the latest press reports in New York.
According to information from Deesha Thosar of The New York Daily News, Mets president Sandy Alderson has reached out to Brian Sabean to become their president of operations and general manager, with the former Giants executive from San Francisco is looking forward to moving to the Big Apple and accepting one of MLB’s greatest challenges at the moment.
Brian Sabean was general manager of the San Francisco Giants from 1994 to 2017, where he was instrumental in forming several of the best teams in the history of the Bay team, reaching four World Series in that span and winning the Fall Classics of 2010, 2012 and 2014.
In addition, it is mentioned that he could take Bruce Bochy with him to become manager of the Mets, after the dismissal of Dominican Luis Rojas at the end of the 2021 campaign.
