“I have spent most of the last 50 years of my life in the band as a football coach, one way or another,” Arians said. “Today, I have made the decision to move from the bench to another role in the front office of the Buccaneers,” the veteran coach added.
The coach, who ruled out that his decision was due to health reasons, assumed the position with Tampa Bay in 2019 and just in February 2021 he won the franchise’s second championship by winning Super Bowl LV with a roster led by Brady.
The quarterback, who had already won six rings with the New England Patriots, announced his retirement as a professional on February 1 at the age of 44, but just six weeks later he regretted the decisionand reported his return to the Buccaneers to play his 23rd season the next campaign.
In his statement, Arians claimed that Brady’s continuity convinced him that it was time adequate to execute the change, which he had been reflecting on since the end of last season.
“Tom’s decision to returncoupled with the fact that Jason (Licht, the general manager) and his staff did another great job of keeping the core of this team intact during free agency, confirmed to me that the time was right to pass the torch to Todd.” explained.
Arians’ resignation is a new turn in an unusual year for the Bucsin which they said goodbye to repeating in the Super Bowl against the later champions, the Los Angeles Rams, and then experienced the departure and return of the legendary ‘TB12’.
This Wednesday, Brady expressed his thanks to Arians in a message from Instagram and wish him the best in his retirement. “You are an incredible man and coach and it was a privilege to play for you,” Brady wrote. “Smart, tough and loyal are some of the words that describe your style. Always remember the conversations we had when you recruited me two years ago and everything we talked about came true,” said the ‘GOAT’https://us.marca.com/nfl/2022/04/01/.”You are a true NFL legend and a pioneer for all the work you’ve done to make the league more diverse and inclusive.”
