But he has been missing something essential: to get a World Series title. And history is against him. No Yankees manager has managed a fifth year at the club without lifting the trophy.
Boone has been harshly questioned for his controversial decisions this year, another season in which they have had to deal with injuries of every caliber.
In two of his first three seasons, Boone has received manager of the year votes and manager Brian Cashman is assumed to want him back by 2022.

But the pressure on his shoulders has been mounting and it is possible that if the team is out of the postseason, it will be the first to be sacrificed.
That will not necessarily be a good decision. Boone seems to have a dugout full of complex personalities at peace and leaves the impression that he has room for improvement as a manager and deserves another shot.
For now, his future is uncertain. With no secured contract for 2022, it is very clear that his continuity is at risk and he knows it.
