OFFICIAL ROSTER: Mayabeque teams up Series 61

On the afternoon of this Sunday, January 9, the baseball authorities in the province of Mayabeque announced the official roster of the Hurricanes to the 61st edition of the National Baseball Series, in a meeting held with the leaders of the sport in the Island, according to reported the Jit website.

The roster of 40 players is headed by experienced outfielders Dennis Laza and Orlando Lavandera, slugger Yasniel González, outstanding pitcher Yadián Martínez, promising pitcher Marlon Vega and closer Alyanser Álvarez, players who will have to pull the reins of the Huracanes in the upcoming campaign.

To meet their objectives, the Huracanes will also have the services of two experienced pitchers such as Adrián Sosa and Antonio Baró, both from the capital and with experience in National Series, who join the squad in Series 61.

Sosa has alternated in his ten seasons with Industriales and Matanzas, mainly as a reliever, with a record of 27-12 and 18 saves, while Baró has made 50 starts in five seasons between Metropolitans and Industriales, in addition to having experience abroad.

Nonetheless, Mayabeque will feel the absence of young prospect Jeison Martínez, who decided to escape from Cuba late last season and He’s even close to signing a professional baseball contract.
