Dominican loses to Colombia and both tie for first place

The Colombian team returned to winning ways and defeated the Dominican home team two runs against one. Closed game that puts the Colombian squad in the first place of the standing when there is one game left to close the regular stage and define the semifinal duels in the 2022 Caribbean Series.

The second inning brought Colombia’s first run. Reynaldo Rodríguez receives a walk, and advances to second on an error by the second baseman on a hit by Andrés Angulo. Robinson Cabrera advances them with sacrifice and Rodríguez steps on and runs with a hit by Brayan Buelvas.

The two to nil fell in the third inning, Tsung-Che Cheng hits a hit line to shortstops and steals second to then score with a producer hit by Reynaldo Rodríguez. The attack culminated in a double kill.

Dominican Republic came close in the sixth inning. Fernando Pérez (1-0) scored the save pitching five innings and a third of four hits without a run. Juan Isaías Díaz retired two-thirds of a race. Luis Moreno retired the seventh in order. Jeffry Niño worked the eighth and Ronald Ramírez (1) sealed the victory by retiring the ninth inning.
